Solution to Rage Quitting in Unranked

Postby duatam on Wed May 16, 2018 2:33 pm

Rage quitting has become such an epidemic in unranked that it's almost impossible to get through a full match without any rage quits. People rage quit from smallest things. Often it can be as little as enemy making a single goal. This needs to end.

One way we can stop this behavior is to start reporting every person who rage quits. Report them for "Unsportsmanlike Conduct". It's appropriate, because rage quitting is extremely unsportsmanlike behavior and often ruins the entire match for 5 other people (or 3 others in case of 2v2).

If we all report the rage quitters, the serial offenders will get massive amounts of reports and end up getting bans. That could be enough of a deterrent to make many stop this behavior.

I'm already doing this and some have resulted in bans. If you want to end this rage quit epidemic, feel free to start doing it too.

In the future I'm really hoping Psyonix does some serious measurements to stop rage quitting. One way would be to make people who rage quit often, to be more likely to play with others who rage quit often so they won't ruin the game for the rest of us. People will keep on rage quitting as long as there's no consequence for it.

Hey duatam, part of the upcoming Progression 2.0 system is to incentivize players to stay in casual matches so they can receive XP for finishing.

You can read more about the Progression 2.0 system in our Summer Roadmap here: https://www.rocketleague.com/news/rocke ... mmer-2018/

Duatam, I already do this - you're welcome!

Dirkened, they already get XP for simply staying - staying in means more goals, shots, assists, saves, etc. which equates to XP. So, forgive me if I'm hesitant in believing that the upcoming updates will be a magical fix-all, because I can assure you that it won't be.

You're cluttering the reports with cases that they will not follow up on. Leaving is not a bannable offense, so stop treating it like one.

An automated response can and should take care of this - for example, did the accused leave shortly before the report from a game where the accuser was on the other team? Check! Did the accused quit from other games recently in say, the past few hours/days/the past week? Check, check, and check! Action will be taken against the individual accused - if the accused doesn't want to play, the game can and should oblige them...

Unranked. Is. Practice.

How many times does it have to be said before people get it? They don't count. They. Don't. Count. There is no reason for a penalty for leaving a PRACTICE game.

Practice? Isn't that what the bots are for?
But, if Casual is merely practice, why keep score? Why have a winning team showcase at the end? (unless they need to "practice" their jumps & gyrations)

If casual gamers want to play a match, but don't want to interfere in ranked matches, just where are they supposed to go?
Bots? --- stupid & don't play anywhere like a human.
Casual? --- according to some, it's only practice and not a real game.
Competitive ?--- too serious, rage, toxic.

If Casual is supposed to be practice........why isn't it called "Practice"?
Why does RL keep track of your MMR in causal if it's only "Practice"?
Why does it affect your overall win/loss percentage if it's only "Practice"?
